Heads of state might be a bit pricey in general, closest I've got is a racing driver's Rolex Daytona.

Just visited the Truman presidential library and they had his WWI watch on display (Artillery Officer).
    I believe this is it.
    Gallet Flightmaster.

didn't get the FO because it was a Truman watch, but I love it nonetheless, or despite....

Not a WWI watch BTW, Buck. The FO wasn't introduced until 1939. The artillery officer was him, not the watch - I'm betting you know that.

No, he was OK - just not a fan of buying watches because of celebrity associations, Steve McQueen always excepted....

Wish they would have let me climb into the display, they had several watches displayed with his militaria.
There was a trench style that would have been more fitting of an WWI artillery officer but couldn't make anything out, looked like an Elgin?

    Love your Gallet, Lou !

    Steve defined "cool".
Died of mesothelioma from asbestos exposure while in the Navy, what a loss.
I'm a retired construction worker (Asbestos Workers Local 1) and he is one of our heroes.
