Am I the only one who is hooked on numbers?
Today every passage system, telephone, computer, etc., has numbers. Pin codes, license plates, and so on – they all have a meaning for me and they stick to my memory. I am a dream come thru for the police looking for a certain car… I can remember plates a long time. I know it is a strange thing… I know…
For a long time I used the “US V8-system”. The first 35 years of my life I was into cars.
409, 283, 302, 454, 400, 262, 396, 440, 426, 326, 331, 327, 350, 289, 500, 340, 360, 427, 390, 215, 402, 354, 348, …, … I could go on with this list forever. Combine these numbers and their backwards version – and you have a "mind chart" that helps you remember almost any combination of numbers.
For me a phone number during these years could consist of a GM and Mopar product topped off with a backwards Ford.
Nowadays, however, the US V8-system has more and more been replaced by the “Caliber-and Omega/Rolex reference-number-system”. But when it gets complicated I combine them.
Maybe the title should have been – “what´s in a brain”? After a while I no longer think of the numbers – I just see the combination of V8: s or watches.
Anyone else out there?
PS - what got me to write this? Well one guy had 409 likes and I have 1861. And my brain started... a hugger orange Chevy 409 with it´s characteristic valve covers and a Speedmaster...
