Alarm springs are tough to come by, and it helps to know a watchmaker that knows how an alarm works. Other than that they're regular bumpers or manual winds.

Is $3500 for an absolute mint SS Memovox w/ a Gay freres bracelet too much? Waiting for pics at the moment.

I gotta see that. Check the bracelet for their logo - a ram's head. It should be on the clasp somewhere.

Thanks. I should probably get down to getting a copy of Zaf Bashs's book.

Does it cost much more to service a memovox?
Yes, at least half again and often twice the cost of a simple time only, and their complexity can be a challenge for a watchmaker unfamiliar with them.

I have heard it is not as easy to souce for parts, is that true?
Yes, some parts are nearly impossible to find and if you think parts for an Omega are costly, parts for a LeCoultre can be downright obscene.

Thanks X350 XJR. Looks like there is no motivation for me to get more than one memovox. 🙁

No joke, took me over 2 years to find a donor cal 910 movement to get one part for the alarm to make one good watch.

Yikes...makes me want to reconsider spending that much on one!

Sort of off sub forum, but not really given where we are - how do the Omega Memomatics compare to the JLC memovoxes?

Dial looks perfect and case looks nice, only downside is that one crown has been replaced.

The Omega memomatics are an interesting piece but the alarm function is really JLC's trademark complication, if you're spending that sort of money there are better Omegas to buy for the same price.

Its nice Kyle, but I can't see paying more than $2400 for it considering the crown and overall condition.

Dennis remember memomatic I saw at the watch show, mint condition, beautiful dial, 980, $800. Not JLC, but still , what a beauty.
