Viewed this watch today at a local specialist! Pretty sure it dates from 1978! I'm very new to vintage mechanical watches and need help deciding if I should go for it? Any thoughts welcome

I saw a Ford Mustang that I think was from 1969 at a car show. The guy was selling it. Should I buy it?

Would love to see head-on close up of dial to make sure not a redial, lume and horizontal brushed finish looks odd to me, seen more sunburst.

I'm also curious about the numeral 1 inside the Omega logo on the movement.

Any inside caseback photo or box and papers photo?

Anyway, these go for $3-500 and in this condition with all correct 9ct case and box and papers and verified original dial, I wouldn't be surprised at $600-750.

Beware, I am still somewhat new at this and these are only my honest opinions, hopefully others will help.

Hey, you asked for a rough idea, can't get much rougher than me !!

    Good luck and welcome.
Send us pictures of the 1978 one when you get a chance.

dsio thank you for your reply! This is another watch being sold on gumtree. the seller claims it is a 1964 but I'm struggling to find out if the case number works out right as I'm not buying a Frankenstein in a hurry

Luckyboi, the ALD on the back means its a Dennison case - omega shipped a movement and in the uk it was dropped into a locally made case to save on import duty. I suspect this means you'll struggle to find much about the case ref ask don't think the omega vintage database tracks them. It looks ok to me, but nothing special and I think you can do better for £800

Just make sure the 78 watch is NOT quartz or other battery powered movement.
