Omega Constellation Pie Pan 168.005 Stainless Steel. Good bits: Original dial not refinished, has a nice even patina and looks much nicer "in the flesh" Keeps excellent time Recently serviced A few scratches but a good polish and it would clean up very nicely Bad Bits: Second hand has been replaced for a non 168.005 one The crystal retaining ring is a gold one rather than the original stainless/chrome one. (which actually looks OK, but wrong nevertheless) Overall a nice "everyday wearer" which with a little TLC could clean up very nicely The watch has a presentation case back - it is an original 168.005 back, but rather than the usual observatory logo, it has an "Alcan 25" logo, and was given to employees of the Alcan mining company in Canada on completing 25 years of service. (also engraved "Henry C Cattermole 1966) I was going to source a standard case back, second hand and retaining ring, but decided to sell it instead to help fund the purchase of a Speed master (which, I would be interested in hearing about if you have any of these for sale, as if no one shows any interest in buying it, I will hang on to it) £450 + buyer pays for fully insured and signed for delivery. thanks Nick
Nice watch Nick. These are great watches. I have a stainless 168.005 Alcan as well. I was able to sourse a NOS regular back on eBay couple years back. Mine has 264 in it. Pre-cleaning seller shot,
Nice budget pie-pan that can be brought back to stock for not a lot of money. I have an Alcan Eterna-Matic Centenaire Chronometer from the same era. Not sure why this guy didn't rate a Constellation. gatorcpa
There are so many darned Birks Eternas that between this and those one would think that the brand enjoyed some kind of special status in Canada.
Hi all No longer for sale as, I have decided to keep it and clean it up. Admin - Sorry, dont know how to edit the title to change status as not for sale any more?
