Hi all, A local watchmaker has offered me these two buckles. Any thoughts on whether these are genuine? The one with the 'phat' logo has Acier inox Swiss on the back. And something else with a circle around it it seems. It does seem stamped and not computerized. I am most interested in the one with the phat logo. It does seem to quite closely resemble the one that is displayed in this thread in SS: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=327808 Even more buckles here: http://users.tpg.com.au/mondodec//Omega_Constellation_Accessories_Part_1.pdf Have you guys got any thoughts on it?
I think these buckles are a bit like the Holy Grail in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, the shiny gold pretty ones are probably not legit, it tends to be the ordinary ones that turn out to be real.
Here is another example of a legit one. It has the sun symbol on the left and 750 SWISS on the right. In the middle you can see the indents for the Omega symbol being inserted into the buckle. A good tell if the buckle is legit. Another one is the weight of the buckle and tongue, mine weighs close to 3 grams.
Seems to be identical to the ones that are sold on this forum as I just found out. I spent quite a bit less for the gold plated one in my previous post. http://omegaforums.net/threads/fs-vintage-omega-sun-buckle.9762/
My Seamaster Quartz which I bought from new in 1988 has the exact same buckle in steel. I am quite certain yours is genuine.
I am still baffled by the logic behind these thread resurrections! Since he asked five years ago, he hopefully got an answer already
Real, but looks like only 12mm wide. Fakers don't make buckles that size so... you are safe when you buy small buckles like that.
