I got a Seamaster from my father, who has passed so I can't ask him anything about it. I believe it was purchased in the mid/late 60's On the inside of the case it has 2 case numbers so i am confused. It also has a metal bracelet with only No12 in an oval, the words STAINLESS STEEL and OMEGA and the omega logo. Sorry on the passing of your father. I do not look forward to that day.

Hmmm. according to the omega database, 168.022 should have a 565 movement, not a 563.

What does the back of the case cover look like? Does it have the sea monster on it?

Perhaps it could have been a dual purpose case back or aftermarket case back?

I would say wear it and enjoy it and hopefully think about the good times you guys shared.

The case back does have the sea monster. And what of the 166.028? That's why I am confused, 2 case numbers 1 for a chrono and 1 for the standard auto.

Maybe it's a dual use case back (i.e. can be used on either model)? I haven't seen this before, although admittedly, I am a newbie.

That's exactly right. The ref. 168.0022 is the one with the chronometer grade movement. The cases are the same.

Just wanted to thank those who replied. Now just have to find a place for service before wearing as I don't think this watch has been used in the last 20+ yrs.

After almost a year I got my Seamaster in for service. I can finally wear my only Omega now. I think he got a little carried away polishing the crystal, but no complaints since it will need to be replaced sometime in the future anyways. The only reason I didn't get it replaced now is I want to keep this as original as to how my dad left it as long as possible.

Wow, that dial has tons of detail and depth that pops out under the (over?)polished crystal. Very nice sleeper piece.

Thank you Yinzerniner, I believe the watch is circa. 1968 and since I don't believe it was even worn in the last 20-25 years it has aged gracefully.
