The Calibre 8501 and 9301 are the regular movement with an 18K gold rotor and balance bridge fitted to go in the higher end precious metal pieces, so I'd assume the Calibre 8401 is being used in the Seamaster 300 Platinum 357 Pieces Limited Edition

I like the dial, I like the mov't, but really don't like the shinny centre on the bracelet. Does anyone know if they offer it on leather or canvas?

Probably will be options, there usually are, but in this case it might be easier if you like all brushed to just satin brush it, much like GMT-Master II owners do, it wouldn't take much effort for a watchmaker to take care of.

Looks like pricing has been confirmed at CHF 5500 ($6,200). I'm wondering if there's a strap option that starts out as the lowest price option.

I really like the blue one.... keeping with my blue theme. But at that price, I will have to wait for one of you gents to resell it at a heavy discount :)

Does anyone know if the blue model pictured in the display is a limited run "platinum" model, or will be a regular offering? From the photo, the blue one also seems to have less of that simulated "patina" on the dial, but that might just be the angle at which it was photographed.

It's clear that this one must be seen 'in the metal' to fully judge. The simulated patina of the black dial one seems, to me at least, a little strange in a watch with polished center links. The micro adjustment clasp on the bracelet was wwaayy way overdue, though.

There is a blue limited edition in platinum (357 pieces) and then there is a blue titanium version. So black/steel blue/Ti and blue/Pt

Any chance this watch will come with a date in the future?

Maybe it will, but the Planet Ocean has date and is otherwise very similar

Date will destroy the symmetry and will also not be faithful with the original.

One on the right has clearly been cropped from the marketing material and inserted. Looks all vector/PS.

Does anybody know: with the new anti-magnetic movements, do they use more non-metal parts, or non-ferrous metals?

AFAIK they use more non-metal parts, I know they've been increasing their usage of SI14 parts including balances

bracelet can be 'modified' by Omega if you buy. Sure they'd be happy to take the shine off the center links ( after you purchase ;) )
