I like this version better as the LCD screen on the Gen I and II was a little harder to read at angles

If you take 1998 as vintage it may be correct ;-)

Saw one of the old Mac computers being sold as Vintage the other day.
    98imac01.jpg

“Announced in May 1998 and shipped in August, the iMac was Apple’s computer for the new millennium. Aimed at the low-end consumer market and designed with the internet in mind, the iMac was positioned by Apple as the most original new computer since the original Mac in 1984, and came in a stylish new case design, with translucent “Bondi Blue” plastics. The iMac included a 4 Mbps IrDA port, and an internal 56Kpbs modem (a 33.6 kbps modem was originally announced in May, but was upped to 56 kbps at MacWorld.), used two 12 Mbps Universal Serial Ports (USB) as its only means of external expansion, and included a newly-designed USB keyboard and mouse. While it had no other serial or SCSI ports, many manufacturers promised to make a variety of USB peripherals available by the time it shipped in August, and by and large they delivered on that promise. A “Rev B.” model was released several months later, with 6 MB of VRAM, and several hardware bug-fixes. The iMac sold for $1,299 U.S. This Rev. B iMac was replaced by the Rev. C in January 1999.”

Looks like the Solar Impulse 2 crew just got the first X-33 Gen 3 / Skywalker watches:

I did a Si2 report yesterday on timezone.com. Feel free to go to the Omega forum there and klick on my report. I took some wrist shots too.

    Have a nice day gentlemen!

Here is an old & new together. I love the fact that the new one has 'Certified by ESA' engraved. The 1st Gen X-33 on the picture shown is actually from a former ESA astronaut :)

More soon on my blog, waiting for the official press release (for specs).

Does the new version still have 30M W/R due to the alarm's hollow caseback?

As said, I don't have the tech specs yet. There was little info on this model when they showed it in Basel. In fact, we had to ask for it. A number of other journalists didn't even get to see it.

I'm curious now. I'm a Apache pilot in the Army and nine months ago we placed a group order the X-33. On April 1st we received an email from Swatch group telling us that the order was ready to be shipped.
I'm wondering now if we will be receiving this new model or the older version. We tried to order these back In 2009 but we were told that the X-33 was discontinued and we would have to order the Z-33. No one really liked it and so we forgot about the program for a couple years. Upon returning from Afghanistan a guy In my unit contacted Omega ( Swatch Group) and we we're told the X-33 was available again. my friend sent the cashiers check to Omega and we are waiting for the watches to come in the mail. I wonder if we will receive the Gen 2 or this newer model?

I would have your friend confirm. I would assume if you placed the order in 9 months ago it would be for the X-33 3291.50 version Gen II. The only programs I know that got the X-33 Gen III are the Space programs.

We'll find out. My understanding is that the X-33 is for astronauts and military aviators. I just think it's odd how the model was discontinued and now it's back. Our order wasn't ready for shipment until after the new model was announced at Basel World. We'll see which one we receive in the mail. I'll keep you guys posted.

As far as the Berlin boutique is concerned, the Skywalker should be in in about two weeks. Cannot wait to see it in the flesh, although the preternatural brightness of the lights there will make it hard to judge it appropriately.
