Hi Managed to win this 50s (I think) Longines a few weeks back in a auction on the bay. I'm more clued up on Omegas (though no expert) and I don't know much about Longines during this period. I'm guessing the numbers on the caseback are model numbers of some kind? Is it possible to tell the year from the movement no. like it is with Omegas? The watch's dial looks original I think and I like the blued hands. Managed to get it for £135 delivered (about $225). Did I do good?
A.L. Dennison was the official casemaker for Longines in the UK. Most of the watches in the US were Ross, K&E, L&K, and Star with the occasional Wadsworth (and probably another maker or two I'm forgetting).
Cheers for the additional info guys. Good to know I did well for my first Longines! It's probably around 33-34mm without the crown LouS. Nice wearable size I think.
Movement was manufactured in 1951, based on information on this website: http://www.vintagewatchresources.com/year_identifier.php I'm not sure if I read the serial number correctly. I used 8.3 million. Hope this helps, gatorcpa
