Curious what you are in London for?

Anyway in Toronto near Union Station is Solaris jewelers - this is the place I was referring to above. They carry many nice brands, such as IWC, JLC, GO, ALS, used to carry UN.... I have bought 2 watches there (one JLC and the GO) and made very good deals on both.

The other main watch area is in Yorkville, and there you have Royal de Versailles, who carry a ton of different brands, such as Rolex, AP, Chopard, Piaget, VC, Blancpain, Hublot (they used to anyway), Breguet, etc. Discounts not so easy there though....

The Tiffany's in Yorkville carries PP I think, but I have not been in there for several years. Birk's in the same area has Omega, JLC, and a few other brands (lower end stuff).

I have not been to the new location of Louis Black, but they used to be an Bellair St., and have moved to Yorkville St. They carry Sinn, Bell & Ross, U-Boat, etc as lower end brands, and then some much nicer stuff like Urwerk, F.P. Journe, Richard Mille, Jaquet Droz, etc. My wife and I both bought Sinns there, and they are good people to deal with.

There are some other places scattered around the city of course, but if you are looking to see a lot in a short time, Yorkville is the area to head to.

Cheers, Al

car dealers know better. they never ignore anyone.
they know the guy in jeans might be looking at the Ferrari and the guy in a suit
maybe is tire kicking
I ALWAYS dress down(including NOT wearing expensive watches) when shopping big ticket anything.

I agree - I never "dress up" to go watch shopping. I just wear whatever I am normally wearing at the time. In the summer that will be shorts and a golf shirt...

When I made my 'impulse' purchase of an Omega AT at a Boutique a few weekends ago, I was actually wearing some odd attire for 'luxury' shopping. Had on some 'tactical' Blackhawk Industries shorts, an Under Armour shirt, and coyote tan 'contractor' hat since I was actually at the shooting range that morning.

The Boutique Manager didn't hesitate to greet me or ask me if I was looking for anything in particular. I wanted to try on the 41.5 blue AT and he busted it out of the case and I ended up buying it because I wanted it.

Thanks Al. Next time I'm in town I will head for Yorkville Street. As for London, it's for the Knights at the JLC, dinner at Waldo's, a beer or two at Robinson Hall all with my favourite cousins.

Today I visited Christopher Ward at their Maidenhead showroom and came away with a C900 HARRISON SINGLE PUSHER CHRONOGRAPH, C900SWTR no57/250 (I was born in 1957) and a C60 TRIDENT GMT AUTOMATIC, C60-GMT-SKKO. Added additional black strap for the C900 and an orange strap for the C60 to the order, extends the options. I'm not going to write review for either the watches because there are far better qualified members that can do that. What I can say is that, in my opinion the C900 is simply stunning and the C60 is so much fun, see web link, www.christopherward.co.uk - Love buying watches.

Forgot to mention the service at CW is truly exceptional. Viewing by appointment and no sales pitch just animated watch talk.

Shopping over the other side of the pond would appear so different. If I turned up dressed like that at original posted 'store', the security shutters would have been deployed. Thinking about it I must try it, freak them out.

That's as good a reason as any - try Tru next time you are down this way. It's right next to Budweiser Gardens basically (formerly known as the John Labatt Center), sort of kitty corner across the street.

We were at the game when they won the Western Conference final, in OT no less. Too bad the Memorial Cup didn't go their way, but being OHL champs is nothing to sneeze at....

Cheers, Al

You're still new and I happen to be in a good mood so I'm going to help you out. There's a rule "pictures or it didn't happen" so I'll illustrate for you.

Don't count on this kind of service again. 😝 My name isn't Christopher Ward. 😜

...... and you've made 2 excellent choices. 👍

S'alright. And believe it or not, I like that dive watch better than the chronograph - which is really out of character for me because I dig 2 register chronos. Black & Orange rule!

I like dive watches too, I have an Omega Planet Ocean 2500. I feel Omega got it right with this one - perfect balance in every way. I favour the deep black bezel over the ceramic liquid metal in the 8500. It's just a personal preference.

I really like the C900..........what is the movement there?

The movement features a bespoke Unitas 6497 hand-wound mechanical chronograph by Johannes Jahnke with Jean Fillon hence Calibre jj02.
  1. Diameter: 43mm
  2. Height: 15.9mm
  3. Vibrations: 18,000 vph
  4. Case: 316L stainless steel
  5. Water resistance: 5 atm/50 metres
I believe the movement has been a labour of love and took well over a year to develop. Everything about the movement feel so smooth yet very solid, especially when turning the crown. I understand that CW have further developments including an in house movement. So looking forward to that.

Went back to the beginning today and visited the 'store' to take a closer look at the Bermount Victory. Despite examining the watch for 10 minutes the manager gave me no attention except saying I can give you second refusal. Why did I think it would have been any different. As for the Victory it's a beautifully crafted watch but definitely not for me. The reason, I feel it's over 'designed' (description helped by a fellow member) wIth the inclusion of wood, metal and leather to embellish the case & movement.

I only joined the forum a week ago to contribute to this forum. Unfortunately I feel that I have not been made as welcome as I hoped by a few with some curt messages posted. Therefore I have reluctantly decided not to make any further contributions. Thank you to all that have liked what I have written, the images I have downloaded and for the meaningful conversation.
