    Hi,
I have been looking at vintage Omega's for awhile and decided to make a purchase. I found 2 I like but would like a second opinion from others.

Both are older redials. I'd stay away from these.

It will take patience and persistence but good Omega are out there.

    Hi Blue and Welcome!
Both of those have been repainted, aren't in the best of shape and in my honest opinion (imho) are worth parts value ($100 or so) plus whatever interest you have in them.
They will not appreciate in value or be of interest to a collector but if you find them interesting for a non-waterproof daily wearer, so be it.

As a Collector's forum, we would steer you towards an all-original model, starting at probably $3-500 depending on your taste preferences.

Thanks for your help! I guess I won't be getting any one of these.

Thanks! What type of things should I be looking for in a good used watch?

Something that makes you tingle !

Check out WRUW thread under the "Open Discussion" heading above and see what you like.
There are great 50's-70's for under $500 and there are great ones for well over $5000.
Tell us your style, your tastes and your budget and we will be glad to help get you hooked up.

You are before the "Gates of Hell", I am afraid!

I would like a 50's-60's seamaster. Preferably under 500. Also if possible with a 552 caliber.

Check out our For Sale section and look for what you want from an established member (300+ posts, there are dealers that also post here, most are great, some are unproven).
Private message any of the moderators or senior members for advice, you can't go wrong.

If you are a gambler and lottery player, check ebay for sellers with 100+ sales, near-perfect feedback, good pictures and good location.
Then ask for an evaluation here, privately if you don't want to draw attention, but be prepared to kiss a lot of frogs !!

I ran an ad in a local newsletter and have bought 3 watches straight from Grandpa !

Wanted: Old watches for new hobby - will pay $ for old mechanical wrist watches - working or not - prefer men’s. Please - no Timex or battery/Quartz models. Call Jim

Thanks for your help! I'll definitely be careful when buying. And I'll check out the for sale.

    Hey Blue,
Also set yourself a cool avatar so we know who we are dealing with, it becomes a recognition thing for us.

    A suggestion, perhaps ? images6C8BB37O.jpg

Maybe you can photoshop your Seamaster on this bad boy.
