It's a lot for a vintage Vacheron, beautiful but expensive, at the watches of knightsbridge auction 3 fairly similar vacheron watches came up and made around £1500, one was a mess mechanically, but looked good, one had a beautiful patina and was fully original and another had an incorrect crown, all 18k gold. For your €3500 I would do more searching especially ebay- these watches for whatever reason are not that desirable for what they are- classy and fabulously made.

These things just scare me because I'd be concerned if it ever needed to go to VC for service it could cost more than you paid for it.

i think going to vc to service it is not an option otherwise i would be bankrupt. i think i will just take it to a normal watchmaker.

I would too, but the concern is if it needs parts, VC is owned by Richemont, who are known for being extremely tight with parts, even gaskets for water resistance sealing on modern Cartier watches let alone a vintage VC, you'd have to be confident you could source them on the open market or from parts houses.

yeah, thats quite reasonable thinking. i think if you are gonna buy a watch like this, it is a risk has to be taken. what do you think of the movement and dial? anything suspicious?

At least you'd have 9 months to save up for it.

The dial looks correct to have correct fonts. The ampersand is one of the fonts VC used and all pre-1970 VC's have it. I think they dropped it from the name around 1974. I can't say if it's original but if it's a franken or a redial it's a damn good one.

Please read me the serial number off the movement, and when I get home I'll find out roughly what year it's from. The styling leads me to believe it's a 50's watch.

i cannot really see the number clearly and it seems like 320732. but according to the seller, the reference is 004872d.
