Anyone watch this episode? The first few minutes, with that guy pitching 'Accutron' to Peggy were pure brilliance!

I know that Bulova advertising budget is bigger than Omega. My hunch tell me that's a product placement.

A good percentage of the watches provided to the show come from Derek Dier at http://www.watchestobuy.com/. In the final season he has leased over 30 watches to them.

Quite possibly, yes. They do throw around quite a few brands that are still very much relevant today. I wonder if they get paid for that.

That's a sweet gig right there. Who wants to lease my watches? I'll charge you high prices, make you sign a contract that if you damage anything you bought it, and when you're done, the watch will have increased in value by association.

I'll have to wait to watch it till the DVDs come out later this year. I can't stand the huge number of commercials that AMC crams into the episodes.

I agree. The best is when they do not allow you to fast forward the commercials.

I did see the episode. I was thinking damn it why can't that happen to me. But then again the closest someone high end watch I saw at work was a submariner. People don't know. A couple omega magazine issues ago they featured Don Draper's black dial Connie or seamaster. I liked the add it went something like "All is right in the world when Don Draper looks at his omega.

Mr. Clooney does a great job at using Omegas in films.

It would be a very sweet gig, especially considering his passion for vintage watches. I know his plan is to eventually sell all of the watches which were used on the show at Christie's (or another big auction house). All proceeds will then be donated to charity.

Doesn't get much better than that for karma!

I don't know Derek, nor have purchased a watch from him. I've seen some of his Mad Men pieces for sale, so I don't think all the proceeds are going to charity.

Based on our last conversation this is what he has told me. Once he gets the watches back from the show he's planning on putting them on display at certain galleries. Then they will be auctioned off with proceeds to charity.

I was wanting to purchase one of the watches used in the show, that's when he informed me of his plan. As such I would have to buy the watch at auction.

Just got my Accutron back yesterday from the Accutron Specialist (yes, very different from my usual watchmaker who won't touch 'em). Thought the timing was appropriate.

I'm loving the smooth sweeping seconds hand and that soothing hummmmm......
