    Hi there,

Below is my Royal Navy Fleet issued Lemania (0552), circa mid 60's

Engraved in the caseback, its NSN 6695-99-924-3306 as my later CWC Royal Navy issued (1974)

    as per DEFSTAN 66-4

Anyone should expect the Lemania caliber 2220 with incabloc, but mine is powered by its ancestor, the gilted caliber 15CHT instead, which was formerly in use into watches with the following NSN 6695-99-924-3305. Nothing strange here as this happened quite oftenly with the earlier Serie III version.

For more in depth details, have a look here: http://www.mwrforum.net/forums/showthread.php?65810-Re-Lemania-Series-3-6645-99-924-3306-3312

I'm very fond myself of the rarer no lume white dial Submarine issued, NSN 924-3312

again 15CHT instead of the expected 2220

Rarer again is the bi pusher chronograph version, RAF issued only between 1974 and 1975, caliber 1872

Let me conclude with a special mention to the TidGivare 195, same asymetrical case, but modified caliber 2225... which I think is still my favorite watch in the box ;)

Please don't hesitate to share yours, Series I & II are more than welcomed obviously ;)

    Regards - Fred

Hello Fred! Nice to see that you cherish that much your civilian Lemania Tg :)

I took below picture in order to see if I could capture 4 different stages of tropical patina in some of my Tg´s. It ranges from light brown, to black, but I didn´t succeed very well with the mobile camera, but maybe it can give you a hint.

    4 x Tg.jpg

Furthermore, I got from a reliable source that it could be read in military literature, that Tg 195 would be spelled out as TygGrupp 195 = Material Group 195 = the stocking location where these watches belonged in military storage.

I have also this one, but haven´t got a clue whether it was an issued watch or not. I have never seen a similar one elsewhere.

    Hello Martin :)

I'm very fond of my Lemania Tg indeed ::love:: ... and what an incredible set of yours !!!

for your eyes only : -> 4 are too much, sell an other one to me [IMG] <-

Regarding the Tg meaning, I would be very grateful if you would mind adding a link to the military litterature you're speaking of ;) ... it definitely shed a new light about this watch (see here : http://forum3.sff.n.se/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=173 )

With my best regards :) - Fred

I wouldn't mind getting schooled on the typology of these watches. What is a series I, II and III? Care to point me to some reading on the subject?

    watches 029.jpg watches 026.jpg watches 034.jpg Here are my 2 assymetrical Lemania's.

The first is no lume nuclear sub.

The second is a engraved AM (Air Ministry) issued from 1965. I have not come across another AM single button assymetrical yet. If anyone has one or know of one, great to see/hear of it. watches 012.jpg

I have to confess to having no knowledge of military watches but I was wondering if there any explanation for the ones with "Incabloc" on the dial but clearly no form of shock protection on the balance? Perhaps the MOD equivalent of a service dial?

Perhaps a defective 2220 was replaced by a 15CHT? Seems to be a marriage of some sorts. Lemania would surely not have delivered a watch to military specs stating shock protection, and then slot in a non shock protected movemement?

Good post, Furze has not seen another series 2 Lemania engraved AM (Air Ministry) issued from 1965. I have owned mine for about thirty years never had it serviced and it keeps perfect time.

    Very nice indeed!
Do have it serviced! Even if your car engine is running well after 100.000km without a oil change, it does not do any good in the long run.
They are extremely strong movements, but running dry (and your watch does) it will wear out. Parts are not that easy to obtain.

Interestingly, the dial on yours looks like a non-lumed series 3 nuclear sub Royal Navy issued, but in an Air Ministry issue case.

I'm a bit confused is it a RN nuclear submariner issue or Airforce, from what I have read they chopped and changed things around when putting them together, it would be good to know exactly what it is. I will get it serviced soon and will post some internal photos.

Well, from the engravings, it was definitely issued by the Air Ministry in 1965, however the white dial in your example has never in my opinion been originally issued in any assymetrical cased Lemania except the non-lume nuclear sub model. There are examples of white dial Lemania chronographs issued by Air Ministry as early as 1953, but none I've seen in an assym' case. It could be the case that the dial was originally black, but got changed in by the MoD while being serviced and sent back out.

see link to one recently posted on TZUK.
