Can anyone out there tell me anything about this watch? The only thing I can find is, according to this and the higher movement ser# I have it may be from the mid 50’s. http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db.cgi?12&ranfft&&2uswk&LeCoultre_480 Any ideas on model, or if it’s even worth the price of a service, crystal, and a nice strap? Thanks for any info, Bob
Short answer is absolutely yes to all the above. These cal. 480's are workhorse movements and once serviced properly should keep excellent time for many years. Crystals for these are generic and cheap. I wouldn't go crazy on a watchband for it. A Speidel Sport Calf in black at under $20 should look great on this watch. http://www.ebay.com/itm/360558585030Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network gatorcpa
Go for it, it actually appears to be in quite nice shape. These gold filled cases typically wear heavily.
