I want this watch! Only $23,000...

This picture was taken last fall in the Boca Raton Richemont boutique. I bought my PAM 338 at that time. I had forgotten I took this photo as well.

A - You have to let me know the next time you are down. I have an office less than 100 yards from there.

I can at least buy you a latte at Starbucks. It's in between.

Steve, thanks for the color correction.

And gator, how about the second week of April? Just got my ticket. Family stuff.

The week before April 15th? You're kidding, right?

Well, let me know when you are here. I might be able to steal a day up there at the end of tax season.

It all depends on a lot of things that I don't know yet.

What a beautiful watch! I'm glad JLC went back to the layout of the old Master Moon and ditched the power reserve in the prior incarnation of the Master Calendar. The previous version tried to do too much.

Ha, that is funny, isn't it? I really did forget. we can make it another time...I visit twice a year or so.

By the way, JLC makes this watch in steel, but that incarnation is too monochromatic for my taste (would benefit with blued-steel hands, e.g.). Here is the link to this model: http://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/US/en/watches/master-calendar/1552520#/t1

I could not agree more. The prior Master Calendar lacked all of the symmetry that the Master Moon had.

    Cheers, Al

Well...I will have new photos soon. A certain FedEx package is waiting for me at home. Not the exact watch above (that pic taken last autumn at the JLC Boutique in Boca Raton), but one sourced from Jay Roberts Jewelers in Marlton, NJ (a B-day gift from my dad).

Awesome! One thing I really like in the current Master Calendar is the subdial.

The older Master Moon had a subdial that went from zero to 29 1/2 only on the upper half of the subdial (marking the moonphase). The current one instead marks the seconds from 0-60 around the entire subdial. I feel the current design showing the 0-60 seconds matches the outer margin of the main dial (where the date from 1-31 is marked) better... it somehow brings more harmony to an already lovely design. The whole package just oozes old world charm!

Wow, nice. Congrats on the new addition.

Love the dial symmetry. Nothing looks out of place. :)

BTW: over the last 8 days (half of those on a winder), the watch has lost 13 seconds, so that's averaging -1.6 sec/day. I didn't really notice any difference wearing it or having it lie in a single position. Admirable precision and accuracy, but I guess that's to be expected with a maker of this quality.

We're you joking about the "only" remark? It's a gorgeous watch but at that price I don't know. But if yohave to the cash and the love then go for it.

Lovely! That case looks much beefier than that of the old master moon with the similar layout. Is it, or is it just perceptual?

Lou, I've never had a Master Moon in hand, but I know it's a couple mm smaller.

When I originated this post, I really did not know that my father's gift to me was in the works. I most likely would not have spent the $$ on myself for one watch. I was joking about the "only $23,000", except that I did not yet know that the list price had increase to over 24K (!). I hope to enjoy it for a few decades more, at least! There might even be some patina by then...I certainly will have some.
