If you don't mind to go around with a pocket watch on the wrist, this one may be a good candidate

Price is what it is, but this is not a wrist watch, nor made by IWC as such. this is a pocket watch "custom made" to be a wrist watch probably NOT by IWC. most likely NOT by IWC. Hence the dimensions of the watch which are very large.

There are some in house conversions from pocket watches into wrist watches by notable brands (not talking about using movements from one to the other, but the whole case) but since it states custom I would think this is not one of them, nor do I know if IWC ever did such conversions but I somehow doubt it.

So if you want to wear a 48mm case of quite thickness on your wrist then go ahead. I actually have a similar thing on now...a Panerai Radiomir, which is in essence exactly that but made at factory.

    Would I buy it? no.

It's an old pocket watch movement stuffed into a modern generic case.

What is it about this stuff that attracts n00bs like flies to horse manure? (not meant to be mean to our OP, just a general question)

They're big, old and cool. I've got not problem with them so long as the price is reasonable and the work properly.

Issue is that people tend to charge big bucks for these because of the name in the movement.

S'alright, keep'em coming. Better to look a little silly and keep your money than look VERY silly after buying one of those frankens.

I'm Canadian. I played hockey not football. My neck isn't that big. :)

Are you kidding me? Hockey beats football 10 to 1 when it comes to athletics, toughness, skill and overall macho value. 10 to 1. So get that chain out and let's bling you up. It'll go well with your missing tooth

I'm American and I played hockey. I have a 19" neck - and I'm 5' 4" tall. No football player could match that ratio. :p

Besides, the women all know hockey players are WAY more hot than football players. ;)

Jesús. 5.4 and 19 inch neck! That's basically what the rest of the world calls shoulders.
