Thewatchlady I know what you mean, that noted watch design plagiarist Gerald Genta used to do the same thing:

Very disappointing to find out you must have the iwatch to use Applepay with a 5s.
    That's not gonna happen.

This is the sort of shit some older family member would send to me in an email Fwd chain.

It's top-down photo with the watches scaled in Photoshop, so they line up perfectly with each other. In reality, they're probably not even the same size or proportions. It's a very selective and modified comparison.

Also, they would've hired Newson so they could use his design knowledge and style. Why else would he be there?

AFAIK you can make online payments with the 5S using ApplePay, just not NFC from the phone as it doesn't have the capability

Yes, know that. But would have been nice if there was some other NFC work around, like adding it on a replacement SIM from you provider.

Good idea, but there's probably too much metal around the sim holder for a tiny NFC to work from that location. That's why it's in the top section of the iPhone6, with a larger antenna that's close to where it'll be pressed up against the point-of-sale transmitter.

Oh, and they want to sell new phones.

    I'm still on a 4S :)

It is right on the outer edge of a 5, easy peazy. :D

It's under the metal bezel though, right? The sim container is also metal. That's enough to block NFC, since it would only be a very small antenna on the sim.

I have some NFC stuff here I've been experimenting with :)

Nope, got its own little cover that can be plastic or made into an antenna. But hey I'm not an engineer, I'm an ideas guy :D

Ok, that's pretty clever. For whatever reason I didn't think of replacing the entire sim housing :D

I still have an 8gb iPhone 4. Now I have a reason to upgrade...

To the 5S. The 6 is too dammed big (both of them) and at $99 the 16GB 5S is finally a sweet deal.

Too damn big? This is the first Iphone I am considering buying. I will not torture my eyes just for a sleek case design. (..yeah cicindela, I will not buy reading glass either.... I am that cheap :p). I only make exception for perusing those tiny fonts on Connie dial.

To each their own. You better have big pockets! And I'm not talking about your wallet. ;)

I'm also one of the rare non-MSFT Windows Phone users.. got two of 'em. And I love the Surface (the Pro 3 looks sweet), but if I had £2.5k to spend on a personal computer, I'd be buying a Mac. Sadly the watch budget doesn't leave that kind of money.

If I am pulling in mid six figures when v2 hits I'll probably buy one for kicks.
