Agree wholeheartedly! If it wasn't for this forum I wouldn't of even started my appreciation of vintage watches which has aided me in building my collection up, nor would I had the knowledge that was so graciously passed down. I think a little sly dig in jest here or there actually adds to the forum, not detracts and is well deserved! It's a place you can feel free to express you opinions and expect honesty and not time waste buying the wrong watch etc, If you do, you sure as hell will know about it on here! The access to knowledge and great people is what allows me some time out from work and enjoying a passion that is a little bit different!! So a big thanks to OF's for that!
This forum is fng amazing. I spend waaa(...)ay more time here than on Facebook and what started as a one-watch-thing has now become a little obsession thanks to OF.
Me too - a Texas Instruments red LED push button black plastic and chrome plate face way back in the 70's.
I bought one of those in Singapore in the 70s and wore it 24/7. It worked great until the day I was on gun cleaning crew, swabbing out 30mm cannons in a bath of some sort of solvents we'd cooked up. My watch was turned into a sticky black lump of goo, with the little red led display flickering like a dying Terminator. I must have gone through a dozen cheap watches up there until I got my Subbie. I couldn't kill that thing.
