True. But what about the date window?

Kontiki was my initial thoughts but Lou guessed Kontiki
and you didn't' acknowledge it so I dismissed that brand.
Now you say true when Dennis says Kontiki. So here is my guess
Eterna-matic Kontiki Automatic with Date ~1958
The picture is poor and details hard to see so here's the white one
also. Looks like an exact match to me.
"what about the date window"- date wheel has gilt print
Bill Sohne- give someone else a chance- here is the thread
    you are referencing :

    Pitpro, you've done it again!

For the record, I didn't say LouS was wrong... but he made two guesses in that post and I only give full acknowledgment to confident, unequivocal, and fully accurate answers like this one. Half points to LouS.;)
Is that Bill Sohne's black dialed first series KonTiki with date? Because his is the only other one I've seen on the web.

I only knew of the existence of this model from the fine print at bottom right in this French ad:

    Même modèle, mais avec calendrier.

I paused only for a moment before hammering the BIN, because I have a penchant for rare 50's dive watches that don't cost $20k. :). Ya gotta read the fine print. Arm yourselves with knowledge, brothers!

With Rolex hands in the ad - I've not seen that in the metal - and am not eager to.

Could you share the link that you bought it from?
I thought I was on top of all these that came up for sale.
    Guess not.

This may be a legitimate variation of MMMD's watch.
It has the hands of the Super Kontiki of the period.

    2 ads-
Just an educated guess, but I think the
mercedes hands were the 2nd iteration,
    probably 1959.

    Oh, that is nauseating.

I think you would have to have been set to see completed listings with mine, because it couldn't have been there very long.

I think I remember it. Seller had posted a bunch of old ads and Heyerdahl photos in the listing, I think. I passed on it too but looked at it a lot. $3-4k?
