Couple of days ago i pulled the trigger on this one from a fellow norwegian watch collector. I felt it was a good deal at 300$ and the watch is pretty nice regarding the mechanical and visual condition. It will need a service to run really good like any other cheap auto. ( i have no idea if 300$ is a good deal, but i went with my gutfeeling..) I do know Eterna made a bunchload of these KonTiki's to comemorate the great norwegian Thor Heyerdahl (1914-2002) when he crossed the pacific ocean on the raft which was called Kon-Tiki in 1947. as far as i know, they still use the name on some of the Eterna watches. Besides that, i dont know anything about eterna as a watchmanufactorer, nor anything about this model. If anybody could give me some pointers i would be greatful. I cant seem to find much relevant info when i google it.. edit: pics doesnt do this watch justice, its in way better condition than portrayed here. Lousy Iphone pic...
it's a great watch i have quite a few. Including the 1st edition. But the medallion is the focal point of the watch. Finding one will be impossible. Never seen one in daily review of ebay Eterna for over a year
its pretty big to be of that era (70'-80's?) around 38mm excl crown. So finding casebacks for these are pretty tough, hmm.. Will any medallion fit, are they one size? I might buy a beaten up one just to have the caseback correct. If i take a pic with the caseback off, is there anything more you could enlighten me with regarding this model?
