Just spied this on the 'bay. Looks stylish. No movement picture, yet describes the caliber-don't know why this gets my goat...
Is this a real Longines or a Frahnkenshteen (in my best Gene Wilder)...?

Good Gawd! How distracting to have Kate Upton's bosom pop up on this Tapatalk app!

She- Kate Upton as well- is legit. I've seen one other ref. 23094 (the mil. WWW ref is 23088) civi with fixed lugs.
Dial is reminiscent of the Longines DH.

Thanks. What is DH? I'll "oh yeah" later, but cannot think of what that could mean at the moment.
I must be distracted by the pop-Upton...

You have more reasons to hate it than most of us. Guess that falls under the useless and frustrating "better you than me" category?

Franken. The caseback of this watch shows that it is a ref 23094, but the movement serial corresponds to a different reference. I contacted Longines about this watch since I was curious, and this was their response: "The original serial number 6'433'560 identifies a wristwatch in stainless steel bearing the reference 5130. It is fitted with a Longines manually wound mechanical movement, caliber 12.68Z. It was invoiced on the 15th January 1943 to the company Longines-Berlin , which was at that time our agent for Germany." My guess is that the dial is from a third source, possibly a DH

Yes, Jordan, well done. In my zeal to endorse the reference number and civi version of the WWW, I overlooked a few troubling signs. One example, found on orologi &passioni, has what appears to be the same case no. Hmmm,....
And the DH dial or its cousin, does perhaps speak to a cobbling together of various parts.

Eric Wind just released his weekly What's Selling Where article, and he endorses this watch. He's certainly more knowledgeable about vintage watches than I am in general, but he's wrong about this one. Too bad, the price is going to skyrocket on this one

And that's why frankens happen - the more potential money, the more shenanigans.
