Interesting piece, I have a couple like it. It is an older antique, perhaps turn of 20th century. Collectable. Not as matching as the mid century ones that the Omega cavalli/hippocampus were based on but a hippocampus none the less. Certainly worth the asking but with these you can get bargains or over pay. Prices are often over the top, like optimistic vintage watch sellers. http://www.ebay.com/itm/PAIR-OF-VEN...102?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19fc336166Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-BRASS-GON...335?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item234b3e7367Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network http://www.ebay.com/itm/VTG-BRASS-I...231?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ae441f707Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network http://www.ebay.com/itm/VTG-ANTIQUE...585?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item339e77dd01Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Here are some of mine , I have about ten of them, but I had to stop collecting.............I was under orders
Never knew people would actually make something like those. And definitely wouldn't think people would collect them. I have to stop looking at them or I might have to try buy one to see it in person.
You have to understand that they were made for tie-downs on Gondolas; not for Omega, who stole the design. Here is a picture of Dennis (ulackfocus) in a gondola when I first met him, this is before he was really into watches Here is how you make Cavalli. http://www.valese.it/eng-valese-products-gondola.html
That's (very close) to home! Cavai used to come in different forms and with different decorations, as a "signature" of the family who owned that gondola.
@cicindela , need a pair of matching table lamps? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-19c...143843?hash=item35f81134a3:g:BUoAAOSwDk5UKgZCPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
I stumbled with this short video clip while backing up files as I prepare to migrate my remaining machine to OS X; taken a couple of years ago while diving off Cancun, Mexico - think is one of the largest specimens I have seen while diving.
@cicendela thanks for sharing this info...I had no idea. I am going to be on the lookout these now that I know what in the heck they are. My wife is going to love it when an 8lb package arrives on our doorstep in the coming months with yet another piece of random awesome.
