The picture quality is low. however it looks good to me.
Case is a bit polished but still fine. Dial looks original, bit aged.
Crown is replacement but you can find correct replacement later. No rust in movement, correct caseback.
All in all a decent candidate.
Happy bidding. Remember safety first, so use Paypal with Credit Card ensuring protection. I advise to use sniping site, too.

Looks a bit dirty, missing the case gasket, the movement looks to be corroded and is it also missing a jewel?

Dirty & case gasket is easier to fix (as long as no water ever enter the chamber), but movement corrosion and missing jewel showed bigger potential problem. I guess yammilktea, you should ask the seller to provide better picture for you.

This is picture of 561 without the rotor for reference:

Hi Cris, which jewel do you suspect missing? Next to serial number?

Looks to me like the jewel directly under " 561" is missing and has been colored in.

Could be a trick of the light of course.

Yea...........the picture is bad, that's why I ask yammilktea to ask for better picture and compare to reference picture above. In the other hand, if the real watch actually come up better than the picture, he could snatch the watch at lower price, due to bad picture factor.

It doesn't look like the jewel is missing, it looks like it's dry and therefore lighter in color.

If that is the case then I take the sellers, "Recently serviced" with a good pinch of salt!

I think the jewel is there but very dark. There are a couple of case screws in the same area that also look rather dark. It could just be bad photography, but I would be afraid of rust from water intrusion underneath the bridge. A good watchmaker may be able to fix this up for a price. There is really no way to know without having the watch in hand.

It all comes down to cost. The starting price on the auction is high enough to make me want to pass on this example.

That is a very nice watch. Nothing but good, honest wear. Dial is in excellent condition.

One to go for,

I notice that dial has the Swiss Made T at the bottom. Are these service dials or had they changed to Tritium dials on the 168.005 by then?

The seller also has an SM 300 for sale. Any thoughts on that one?

No, they were using Tritium then.

Both watches look like nice honest examples.

I think Omega switched to tritium around 1962 or 1963 - near the same time they switched to 6 digit reference numbers from 5.

Thanks MSN, it looks like the SM has an early Coat hanger S dial and a movement from 1968 😲 I find SM 300's to be at least as confusing as the early Speedmasters when trying to verify what is correct for the period.

Thanks guys. I have wondered about this because the T dials on that reference are nowhere near as common as the non T's from what I've seen.
