does anyone know of Govberwatches.com, is it trustworthy when it comes to preowned watches, like a philippe patek? or panerai?
I would assume yes they are very good and have an excellent reputation in the area. PM me if you have further questions I have dealt with them in the past no complaints
Talk to George Mayer over there. I made a 2 watch package purchase 2 yrs ago (new 5167 & RO). Was happy with discounting at the time.
i edited the model numbrer. I got the Aquanaut instead of the Nautilus. I know better today, but unfort currently broke
I've bought several pieces from Govberg and managed to get a good price. Very reputable and extremely friendly bunch. And Kringkily I will be calling on you soon....very soon!
I live near Govberg and I've been in there several times. They've lost ~$20k of my business by not being able to come even remotely close to their local competitors' prices. They also left me with a bad taste in my mouth when I went in to look at Pateks (not my first visit, either). They said they had a new Nautilus 5712 (which was the main model I was interested in), but they refused to show it to me unless I paid full MSRP on the spot -- they wouldn't even bring it out in the box and let me look through the window in the front. I was dressed nicely and wearing a brand new Yacht-Master at the time, so I'm not sure why they concluded I wasn't worth the time. A lot of people absolutely swear by Govberg, but I think you need an "in" somehow. They don't seem to want anything to do with you if don't already have a high-dollar relationship with them. I should add, though, that I've tried on preowned watches there as well, and they all looked in excellent condition. Some of them seemed reasonably priced, too.
i guess it makes sense...kinda, anyone can pull in there and steal it. it is a 40000 dollar pre owned watch lol im sure hes not just gonna show it to anyone who pops in dressed nicely with a rolex. i wouldnt if were selling it.
I had been there several times, once with a friend who works for a major watch company. I was on a first-name basis with the gentleman who helped me (he had helped me the other times I was there). And he did let me try on MUCH more expensive Pateks that were on the showroom floor. He just wouldn't go in the back and take out the 5712, I suppose because it's more "in demand." There's really no excuse for that kind of behavior in my book.
Pateks aside, I've ordered two Omegas and a Hamilton from them with no issue. Received a follow up card and a phone call to make sure I was happy. Plus they are a service center for several brands and had a couple sent to them for service with no issues.
I think part of that is the 5711 and 5712 are both watches people want to buy new and unopened, they come in a sealed plastic packaging separate from the box as I was shown one at the Hour Glass here in Brisbane, they wouldn't open it as it knocked a bit off the value when sold if unsealed.
its no biggy, one time mistake. did you put in a complaint?tell them their employee was to lazy to make 40000
Years ago I saw an ad for a Zenith Defy chrono at a good price. I called from California to Pennsylvania at 10:00am Pacific/1:00pm Eastern, and it was on my desk 24 hours later. I was very pleased with that transaction but have not initiated others.
Thanks to everyone for the nice feedback. Glad to have so many "friends" out there! Shem, I am sorry for your experience. dsio is correct about people wanting to buy unopened pieces, but that is no excuse to make a customer feel like they weren't treated with respect - no matter what they are wearing and who they are with. For me just one deal with George Mayer (a Panerai 249) and I was very satisfied. Perfect watch (pre owned), good experience and a smooth transaction. I bought other pieces by other sellers in the area, but I thing George has been the most professional.
FWIW: If you're looking to have your 321 serviced, I found them to be great. They enjoy an Omega parts account plus one of the most trusted and experienced watch-makers, Manny. Call customer service and speak with Israel and you will be very well pleased.
