    Hi there,
although I'm quite new to the Speedmaster I'm already addicted. What beautiful watches!
Therefore I need some advice/feedback on a Speedmaster I just acquired.
I was (and still am) appealed by the general look and the intermediate "First watch on the moon" caseback.
And I think to keep it, until no real flaws emerge.

That brings me to my points:
    - The dial has a fine used patina. Looks very 1970s.
    - No clue about the hands. What do you think?
    - The hexalite has the tiny Omega sign in the middle. Seems to be a serviced one, but ok.
    - The pushers seem to be correct and old, quick check revealed 3.5mm.
    - The caseback says 145.022 69ST which fits with the serial number (30 million) . But I wonder if this is original. It has only few scratches. Does NOS for this exist?
    - The bezel for me is a new one. Definitely not 1970, isn't it?
    - The bracelet is a 1998/840, so not really vintage. I will replace it.

    What is your impression?

    Thanks a lot!
I'm looking forward to your comments.
    Cheers
    Yann

Looks like a nice clean example to me. I would have to agree that the watch calls out for a more period correct bracelet.

I love it. Dial is fabulous, hands look original and a great match with the dial. The straight writing case back is more rare and desirable, and looks to be in good shape. Bezel probably a replacement but doesn't detract from this model since its the correct type, same for the hesalite crystal. Looks like you got a winner here. If you decide to wear it everyday, I'd say the modern bracelet is a good choice. A vintage bracelet would look great, but would also be subject to everyday wear and tear. I have my original 1039 bracelet for my '67 Speedy, but I typically wear it on a leather strap or modern bracelet to help preserve my 1039, and I only bust it out on special occasions.

This is a good idea! I was thinking about having a leather strap either way. I will then use it for the every day use. And an 1171 for special occasions. Thanks

Really, really nice. I agree with the leather strap idea. I have mine on a brown leather with Omega deployment clasp - with that lovely patina I would suggest the same :)

Original case back, the new ones have the slots out on the perimeter and are more rectangular then square.

    Very nice.

Learned something new about the case back of earlier models. One of the reasons I enjoy reading this forum is because of all of the knowledgeable people.

Thank you for your feedback! I'm quite glad that I had a lucky hand with that watch. It is not easy for a beginner to orientate in the wast offer of watches in the internet.

Very nicely aged dial and hands. Hands that age to a light brown are my favorite.
