Think it was around 70 or so, I know most '69s have it

    Thanks Ash.

I'm brewing up to hunt down a '67 with as many original components as I can squeeze into my budget price. If the service bezels after 1970 were the "modern" type I suppose that explains why so many have replacements, even if the replacement itself is now "vintage".

My 145.022-69 has a dot over 90 bezel. I haven't seen it on anything past 1969. There are dot over 90 bezels that come up on ebay. They are usually pretty worn and go for ~$400. I bought 2 321's that had no bezel. I put a dot over 90 on one and a pulsations bezel on the other. Watchadoo has been selling various bezels (pulsations, telemeter, km) for a while. They are period appropriate for a 1967 watch.

Yea I'd agree with that assessment, I haven't seen any reference later than 145.022-69 with it either

Yeah, the change definitely happened late on in the 145.022-69 period. I have seen quite a few very original looking late 145.022-69 (the ones with the commemorative case-backs) with a dot next to the 90 bezels, so reckon these to be correct.
Imo its extremely unlikely Omega changed the style on a particular model as they would probably just have used up the old bezels before moving on to the new stock.
In any case, if you're after a 145.012-67 it would definitely have left the factory with a dot over 90 bezel.

How flattering. You borrowed them from me. That thread covered a lot about speedy bezels.

Here's mine with dot above 90, only two imperfections are at the bottom, you can't see them in person on the wrist though, was pretty stoked when it came original on the watch.

Ha! I couldn't decipher this talk about a "dot over the 90" and the thread you mentioned was the top hit when I asked Mr. Google!

Hi there - if I can impose on your experience for a second, my '68 Transition has an 'upper right', 'no accent' bezel. Is this a replacement?
If so, and I wanted to change it, where is the best place to find a really good proper one, and what would I expect to pay?

    Thanks, Giles

That bezel could be original to that watch. That style appears in ~'68-'69. The watches made in 1970 on almost always (I really want to say always) have that bezel, until the mid 1990's. The bezel is also in great condition. The earlier bezels (dot over 90) appear on ebay not all that infrequently. However they are rarely in as good a condition as yours. They usually sell for $250+. If you do an ebay search and save it, ebay will email you (forever) when one appears.

IMO the transition speedmasters - essentially 861 movement with the 321 style tritium dial - came with the dot over 90 bezel as did the earliest 861 speedmasters that had the 861 style dial.

Actually, upon further review, I'd say that your bezel is from the early '90s. The tachymeter font is the key. It's short/squat not the tall variety. That changed ~1990. If you look at page 3 in the watchuseek thread you'll see pics illustrating the two fonts. I disagree with MSN as far as the 68 transitional all being made with a dot over 90 bezel. In that thread there is a '68 transitional single family watch with the dot next to 90 bezel that has clearly been on the watch for some time. There are examples of '68s with both types of sweep second hand (pointed vs squared off) and both types of bezel.

    Hello
I'm new to this forum but i accidentally found this amazing thread about the 321 inserts
Today i received a remark on another forum about my speedmaster 321 below...
According to this gentlemen the insert belongs on a 145022 and not on my 145012
Could you please advise me on this ?

    Pic of my watch

Hmm hard to see the dot near the 90 whether its above or beside in that picture due to the lighting, maybe try another angle?

Welcome to Omegaforums by the way, nice Cal 321 Speedy

Yeap that's the later version with dot beside 90, on your circa-67 watch you're after a dot above 90, same as mine in the posts a bit earlier in the thread, nice piece though, case and dial look great
