Does anyone make see-through casebacks for Vintage Omegas?

    Hi everyone.

I've recently picked up a vintage omega.

Currently, the movement is covered by the solid caseback, and I would love to have it with a clear case-back.

Does anyone know if anyone anywhere is making clear case-backs for vintage omegas?
To be specific mine is a 136.0102 with a Cal. 1030 movement.

I also have another vintage omega that i'd like to explore this option with!

I'm looking for a pretty reasonably priced option and i'm not really looking to spend a bomb customizing a caseback etc.
Was just wondering if anyone was doing this?

    Thanks!

    Hey there,

I'm not an expert yet, but you might try Custom Watch Concepts, http://www.customwatchconcepts.com/. They make exhibition case backs for speedmaster, mark ii and seamaster. Maybe they have something that would work.

    Cheers,

We know that the larger mm cases are available. But the smaller ones like my 562. Would be cool to see the movement

I love a nicely detailed Omeha case back. The whole reason I bought my ATq teak over the 8500 was that sublime case back. So cool

I think the cost factor would be eye watering.

Omega actually made them in limited runs for use by their sales people etc to show off the movement. I don't think they were ever general issue.

Due to their rarity and popularity with collectors, I've seen ones where somebody has popped a crystal into the caseback to look like the originals.

    Frankenising I'm afraid to say.

And I hope you don't think I'm being rude, but gazing at a 1030?

    Not the prettiest caliber (IMHO).

Now a nice 600 series manual wind, or a 500 series auto with a lovely ball end swan neck regulator, well that'd be worth it ::love::

I won' take any offence from it! I know it isnt the prettiest caliber but its still nothing short of amazing IMO.
I think my other watch has a 500 series movement and that should look nicer ;)

Thanks for the recommendation! I have sent an email to customwatchworks, lets see what comes up :)

Jim I think you missed this posting. These were sold in the US by Norman Morris and widely advertized at the time. Unfortuately it does not appear that they were a popular item, but they still show up every now and then.

Has anyone every spoken with anyone at Custom Watch Concepts about making a clear case back for watches with the Calibre 5XX series?

I would love to have one for my Calibre 561Black Dial 168.005.

Just ask them directly with a mail!
For a King Seiko that I've asked their reply was possitive.

I bought this one a while ago for my 2567, also fits other cases like 2577. Cost me $30 but the seller's source in China stopped making them. I should have bought them all as it costs a couple of hundred to convert a spare caseback into a clear caseback.
