Bought a constellation 751 movement with day and date. I wanted to know how to adjust day and date. Crown appears to pull out to a 2nd position but does not do anything when turning crown. But it sometimes increments date just on pulling out to 2nd position. Also seems very loose, just not sure what to expect.
I can change day and date with crown pulled out in 1st position and adjust hands through 2 rotations of hour hand.
Should the 2nd pulled out position of crown allow me to adjust day and date? Need a service? Thanks for any guidance.

 

Think you mean 751. You've basically worked it out - set the day with crown in 1st position, then gently pump the crown in and out from position 1 to position 2 to set the date. Be warned, the wheel that this turns is fragile, and if you are only intermittently changing the date you may be missing teeth and need it looked at.
