I don't know these Connie's but, if like a Ranchero, it has a metal ring
in the crystal. Does this watch have a metal ring in the crystal?
If so, it looks gold color. Is that correct for this watch?

No it is not correct. While there has been some debate in the past as to whether the tension ring should match the case color or the dial hardware color, that would been irrelevant here as both the case and the hardware appear to be silver color. It should be silver in color. Good spot.

No doubt in my mind the case ring matches the case material and not the dial markers.

I agree with you Mike, merely acknowledging there was someone who wanted to strongly argue the other way. ;)

I'm assuming this may have been done during a service at some point, or is it an indication of something worse?

    Thanks.

It was done when the crystal was changed. Not an indication of anything except someone not caring enough to get the correct crystal (tension ring comes with crystal). Hard to say who or when. Not a big event.

    Thanks, that's what I figured.

Any idea where I can source a correct one? Crystal has one small crack all the way through, so would be good to replace it anyway.

    ebay
    or here
    http://www.ofrei.com/page_168.html
if u care about a genuine old style one
ebay has them come up by parts guys.
just do a saved search for PZ5005
I have 2 sitting here in the drawer that I got off
ebay. Both are the older ones and have the omega logo
Warning some have split tension ring
I would try and get one that has the unsplit type

But of course. Any guidance is helpful, I've had terrible luck measuring for and finding phd crystals in the past...

I just dug one of mine out.
I think this is the one you need.
Someone correct me if I'm in error
    Got it from watchadoo
he probably has more. His email is in the pic.
This one has the Omega symbol and
    unsplit tension ring.
The number sytem is either the PZ5005 or Omega's longer number
    that's in the pic

Offrei list this one as correct for your watch
See the description on the page I linked.
But personally I would get the Omega genuine
    one from watchadoo
edit: I guess offrei's is genuine Omega

I would stay with Original Omega.
I've heard cheaper ones fracture sometimes(usually when installed)
then you no longer have a good seal

Haha, I am the guy who started it in PuristPro and still love the tension ring matching the dial hardware.
