Which is the better investment for wearing casually, longevity, time-keeping, medium shock-resistance, and looking good with? And why?

I realise this is an Omega forum, but perhaps y'all can be objective :D

I'm inclined to spend less money here as it's my first real watch, but I appreciate that Omega is something to pay for? Or if it's used since about the 2000s, then maybe getting something new and still decent will last longer?

Any facts you can give me will be greatly appreciated!

Why is an automatic better at retaining value than quartz? I'd answer that, but then I'd be accused of going on a crusade against battery powered assaults on horology. :D

Actually, I found a few Seamaster's with quartz, and given that I wouldn't have to adjust them as much: would be more inclined to them :p

Certina have a few automatic models that are nice too, if that's what you're saying this largely comes down to?
