A few weeks ago, our oldest son got married to a wonderful young lady that my wife and I are very proud and happy to call her our daughter-in-law. The night before of the wedding I surprised my son with a watch that my father gave me when I was about to start college. The Bulova Ambassador dating to the late 60s which I had maintained in my custody for over 40 years is now on the hands of a new custodian....and the new custodian likes it! On my wrist after a fantastic service by Steve (N2FHL) The groom readies his accessories.... Hands on instruction on winding a mechanical watch...
I would say felicitaciones, but perhaps ¡Enhorabuena!, is more appropriate in this case. Also congratulations !
Congrats !!!! Love that photo showing how to wind. Reminds me of a scene in baseball where coach talks to pitcher on the mound, handling and turning the ball, as VERY IMPORTANT instructions are given AND THEN WHICH INSTRUCTIONS ARE IMMEDIATELY forgotten. Still... A Great Tradition. there!!
From what I can sense, the oldest of our two sons, is the one showing an affinity for watches, so I want to think my small collection of watches will remain in good hands when the day to pass all the boxes to him arrive! Our youngest is just happy with his iPhone for time keeping!
I gave my nephew a 1962 Seamaster (my birth year) for his 18th birthday, earlier this year. It was a bit of a gamble because I didn't know how well an old, used watch would go down with the yoof of today. He was so proud of it, he wares it all of the time and was mortified when he knocked it and scratched the crystal - uncle Stewart to the rescue with the sand paper and crystal press.
