Hi everyone - making the daunting entry into vintage watch buying. Have been looking at lots of watches absolutely love the universal compax. Found one in a local antique store - this is the only picture I have, any comments/thoughts? It's about USD2500 Also found this Breitling, which is priced around the same level.
I'll defer my thoughts on the Breitling, though I'd suggest that it is wildly overpriced if it does check out. The Universal is a poorly done redial with an incorrect seconds subdial hand. I'd pass.
As for the Breitling, I am but the messenger.... For the year being 1945, hands are all incorrect. Case is overpolished and I of course would like to see the movement as well. Dial is missing SWISS MADE with unusual almost whiting out appearance to the area. Even if a legit dial, it is from a later watch. Here is a correct watch of the same period. Photo from net. Note: if you paid at the same $2500 level, HIGHLY OVERPRICED!! Wayne
