That's among the most accurate mechanical watch results you will ever get or find. The closest of all my watches to that is +2 seconds per day, yours is overachieving well beyond its specifications. I would be extremely happy about a watch that gets +1/day as it means the factory did an excellent job of regulating it.

So basically once every two months you'd have to adjust it, realistically? Not seeing the big issue, tbh.

Its gaining too which is ideal, losing is a pain in the arse, but if its gaining 7 seconds per week, you just pull the crown out and hack it for 7 seconds once a week and you're dead on. Or don't worry about it at all, everyone is pedantic about timing on their first good mechanical watch but by the time you own a second you could care less, as long as its within about a minute you figure its close enough.

And after about your 10th one you don't even care if the date is a week out of whack :D

+1 per day::stirthepot:: its knackered mate, ill chuck you a couple of hundy for it as ill need to send it off for a full service and possibly a movement replacement by the sound of it! +1 per day is superb friend, if thats still not good enough for you im afraid you need you get yourself a spring drive quartz or a HAQ. for me anything under +20 a day is fine, i can be hours late for things without the aid of my watch!

27 years ago I bought my first "proper" watch, a Rolex and if bothered me that it didn't keep as good time as the Seiko quartz I had before it. 10 years later I bought a Breitling and it bothered me that it didn't keep as good time as the Rolex so I exchanged it with the shop for a Breitling quartz that keeps amazingly accurate time and is still on only its second battery. 6 years after that, I bought a Cartier and it bothered me that it didn't keep as good time as the Breitling quartz, but probably as good as the Rolex. Over the following couple of years, I realised that a few seconds a day means absolutely fcuk all - and then I started collecting vintage.

Now I more often look at my wrist to admire my watch than I do to see what time it is.

Yea I have a habit of checking my iPhone to see the time and checking my watch to see how cool it looks.

i know that its as accurate as it could get. but it still bothers me lol. im sure everyone here had this feeling at some point or another, that you spend a good amount of money for a good watch, and it gets you by a second a day. its funny but its true.

Let's see.....there is 86,400 seconds in a day and your watch has 86,401. That's like .99999 % accuracy. That is pretty F'ing amazing if you ask me.;)

I remember a cool phrase about this issue and I'm probably butchering it: "People don't buy nice watches to tell time, but to keep time."

Funny, a similar discussion is taking place on Siac's "why do we do this" thread, including the 1 sec a day calculation. Its all about precision engineering and human accomplishment. For telling time we can always look at the sun, if its not raining that is....been raining here for three days now...today is Thursday, right?
