Chanced upon this beauty and got in touch with the seller - its' got quite a fascinating story that's particular relevant to my country.

I know Dennis sold a somewhat similar flagship 341 with date at 12 last year for close to 2K USD. Any thoughts on what would be a fair value to offer for this example?

    Cheers!

No f::censored::ing way is it worth $9200!!!!!! The seller is either dreaming or ::screwloose::.

Let's apply some logic and vintage math here. I have a mint 1961 date-at-12 caliber 341 18k dark yellow gold (3N) Flagship - essentially the same watch with a standard painted dial, not a gold dial. I paid $2150 for it. Add $300-ish for the gold dial, but subtract $500-ish for the condition of the watch in the eBay listing (somebody polished most of the frosting around the 3 mast argosy off the caseback, general wear and marks like scratches and dings, etc), and add…. I don't know….. say, $750 for the very rare box and papers. So you have a watch that should sell for about $2700. Let's give it the benefit of the doubt and say $3000 just because I might be undervaluing that awe-freakin'-some box.

ps - the pink gold date-at-12 caliber 341 Flagship sold for somewhere less than $2000 but more than $1800. I don't remember the exact price.

Or simply: NO! IT ISN'T WORTH IT.

Sooooo many people are fooled into believing that their watch (or any other supposed collectable) would sell for what those 'appraisals' say. I have an appraisal that says my old stainless DateJust 16234 with the white gold bezel was worth $4800, yet at the time it was written those sold for $2500 tops!

    No, not me.

    …… although….. :D

A seller once banned me for making 'low-ball' offers!
And my 'low-ball' was offers in the low $2ks for solid gold connies, when they were asking $5k.

The trick is to get your shoes stolen after you've insured them for 100 grand.

No, the real trick is to get the insurance company to actually pay the claim.::shy::
