The squirrel came a calling here a couple of days ago with a nice barn find. I was visiting a seller to pick up a 7077 bracelet and it turned out that he had a small junk/antique shop and was a retired watchmaker. So of course we had a nice chat and I was able to have a little snuffle around in some dusty old boxes in the back...... Now, I don't claim to know too much about vintage Heuer, but when I saw this one in a very dishevelled state, strapless and with the crystal completely scratched up, I knew that it had to be rescued from it's ratty cardboard box of a home. This is a circa 1970 Heuer Camero 73643 powered by a Valjoux 7736, with a black dial that now has a certain tropicaliness to it, having browned over the years. The original fluted chrono pushers are a bonus as these often get replaced with plain ones. The 7736 movement will need a service and some work as the chrono is not resetting but I'm pretty pleased with this one as I don't have a cushion shaped chronograph and I do like the size at 37mm, although I must say that it does wear larger due to the case shape.
You're having a great week. Been trying to find out how you got that 7077 with no success Always loved the Camaro's too. Wasn't expecting too much from your description but scrolled down reading and then $&@# @&¥#!!!! That is gorgeous. Those red hands really pop. That is the model to have. DIBS (my first on here) Congratulations. Very impressed. Ian
Great eye!! These were not great sellers, and thus have become somewhat of a rarity. And to find one in that shape! Oy Vey!!
