My $0.02: From a perspective of one of the younger members here on OF, lots of my friends who never wear watches are going to buy the iWatch. I can not imagine that the iWatch fad will last for more than a couple of years, and hopefully by then all of these new watch enthusiasts will move onto something mechanical and more traditional, maybe an Omega? ::jumpy::

I think you're right in that its going to be a step to a better watch. Guys in their 20s that otherwise wouldn't wear a watch will try them, but when they see a 9 year old kid in a McDonalds wearing one he got for Christmas (Its in that christmas/birthday present for a kid price range) they're going to think to themselves... I should really have something a bit more special than that kid's watch.

And then you have a new Seamaster or Speedmaster owner.
