And so to complete the story, the watch arrived today... and it's my first vintage Speedmaster! 145.022-69 straight text case back and stepped dial; courtesy of Kringkily. This one is as crisp as one of George's modern Speedies. I dare not even wear it on the 1039 bracelet, let alone try to resize the thing, and so for now it is on my favourite black alligator and deployant. Apologies for the awful photo, but more will undoubtedly be posted in days to come. All I will say is... look at the lume - it's over 40 years old!
It looked so lonely at the store, it begged me to give it a good home. Who am I to deprive such a wonderful watch a life of pampering... So I bought it.
"Nothin don't mean nothing' honey, if it ain't free" God rest her soul...... It sure didn't rest while she was alive!
Hope I don't meet you in an airport and yell "Hijak"!!! Only a Midwest bro would even get this Janis thing. (Chi-town is our capitol, the Looey was a hundred years ago). We need to talk in a week or so, but I'm layin' low til in hand. Capiche?'
You diggin' the Chi-lites, Brother Man? I thought you was east!! Jeez, 500 posts in 16 mos., I need to get a real hobby!
1st band I was interested in was The Shadows of Knight. They used to play at the Glenview Park district Golf club which became a teen club on Friday night. The "American Rolling Stones" as Rolling Stone mag called them.
Ah Ha! I knew I was not crazy (OK , maybe I am, but its my delusion) I just found this. That dog must have been saving for a long while. Well bless his little heart. Congratulations, what a beauty.
A nice 176.007, however there are some questions to be answered. Any comments welcomed (not Joe K though, he knows too much )

Huh. I look at the wrist shot of the mark ii and instead of my usual 'what were they thinking' I find its 'oh! That's what they were thinking!'. Nice watches....
Yeah I know, I'll never get a strap to fit it and at about 10 pounds it'll cripple you by the end of the day to haul it around but.... I just had to have it! It took four 3/16" anchor bolts to put it up, I hope the wall holds.
