After a good experience making a custom strap for the RdM, I decided to do the same for the Master Moon. The MM takes 19mm curved straps, so given my scrawny wrists, it was highly unlikely I would find 19mm short strap with curved ends, so I ended up going the custom route. Hughes (the strapmaker) picked out a dark croc leather, and we worked out the lengths so that I could fit JLC's single-fold deployant. Basically, the 12 o'clock side has to be really short (53mm in my case) to allow the deployant to sit right. The 6 o'clock end is just 'regular' short (105mm). On the surface of it, it looks like a regular strap... But look a little closer and there's a flash of red! The red lining was Hughes' idea, and we joked about it being a Louboutin wannabe. In the end I liked how it worked out, as it matched the red accents on the dial. And a final overview I generally have a poor sense of colour (just ask my wife) I'm glad that this time I took the strapmaker's advice seriously! He is very good, not just in leathercraft, but in terms of design advice.
On top of everything already said, I love the little touch of red at the end of your strap. Wear in good health, Miki
Thanks Miki, that was another of Hughes' nice little touches. He wanted something on the outer side of the strap to hint at the red lining, and we settled on the red stitch at the end, which was meant to recapitulate the red crescent that marks the date on the dial. With the strap length sized right, the red stitch plays a cheeky little peekaboo, winking at the observant just beyond the keepers.
Lovely watch and strap. On my Master Calendar, the spring bars were curved, but the strap was not specifically curved. It was so subtle an effect that I didn't realize about the spring bars until I switched straps.
