Love the peaty Islay stuff, especially the Ardbeg Corryvreckan, but if it's 'Merican brown likker, I'll take one of these. The Old Weller is my favorite bourbon bang for the buck.
Okay not whisky, but I also enjoy my Cognacs... The vanilla stuff is for my wife...but for a flavoured drink it's not bad. And I do have some other Scotch in the house that is not from Islay - more since this was taken actually...
Yumm yumm. Yes, please. I'll take another form cascade hollow, too. Or an Eagle Rare (or anything from Buffalo Trace), just over the line in Kentucky.
It's threads like these that remind me that this forum caters to a frighteningly narrow demographic. Don't get me wrong, I like you guys, you're just too damned much like me.
Yes. It's strange. If any of you turn out to be film buffs I might just marry you! Cheers to whoever said Four Roses. They're the best bouton distillery in Kentucky!
Whoeve put up Oban, good man. I've only had the 14 year which is excellent, so I can imagine the 18 is even better. I tried the Balvenie 21 portwood last evening, it is indeed a great addition to the stock. -Max
Clockwork Angels - one of their best albums in years (and I have been a loyal fan for 4 decades now), but the book really sucked. I didn't realize Laphroaig were doing the "matured in XXXXXX barrels" thing. To me this seems more suited to lighter flavoured Scotch, so interested to hear how this changes the flavours.
Oooo, I like this thread! I'm a Highland and Islay man myself. I usually throw in some Jura as well as a half way between the two. I'm glad to see so many fellow Laphroaig friends here as well! I'm not a huge bourbon fan but I visited the Breckenridge Distillery a few years back and fell in love with their bourbon! I definitely recommend it.
So far I´ve tasted PX and Quarter Cask. Both have a slightly different flavor than original (is teher one?) but I´m not a real connesseur so I cannot define the differencies. But I do love all Laph... variations. And Lagavulin and Talisker and....and good red wine...
If you like Buffalo Trace, you ought to try Benchmark Bourbon #8. It comes from the same casks.... but for a much, much reduced price. One of the secrets that I picked up on the Bourbon Trail.
