Posting an item today from the UK to Canada and was warned to expect delays, transpires all mail seems to be affected.
Checked Royal Mail updates and no mention, anyone else been given this info ?

Given the dreadfully tragic shooting, at the Canadian / Canadien Parliament Building, in Ottawa this week, & other incidents - It is not really that surprising the 'Authorities' are checking, & scrutinising everything, that enters the Country from Overseas - Be it Fish, Fowl, or Watch.

Very true and a very sad reflection of the way society is moving.

No idea why you were given this warning - there is nothing on the Canada Post site that indicates that mail coming from other countries will be delayed for any reason.

Now sometimes we do have delays here that are unavoidable, like when the mail carrier comes to leave a package, but can't...

Don't blame them for just leaving the card...

I guess Canadians are not as friendly as I thought, ::confused2:: .
Not a problem in Minnesota, where our bears are a lot more friendly.

I bet it'll still get here faster from the UK than from the USA. :)

I hear Chicago Bears are pretty welcoming as well...

Like Al, none of this made it to my ears. I don't blame the authorities for circling the wagons and keeping their watch. Horrible stuff, this terrorism...RIP our soldiers. Flags across the country are still at half-mast.

Postage delays if they happen pale in to insignificance when compared to the terrible events of late.

Had my first problem sending a watch through the mail when I sent one to Canada
Arrived quickly but the watch was damaged-never happened to me before that
Will think twice before sending to Canada again

Sorry to hear about that... I've sent a package 2 weeks ago from EU to Canada and it arrived in a fairly timely manner a couple of days ago and everything was ok. Maybe I was lucky?

I get literally hundreds of packages per year via Canada Post with nothing ever lost. It's as reliable as any other mail service in the world is...

Perhaps time to mention that the package mentioned in my original post arrived in good time with absolutely no problems. What Royal Mail staff were on about who knows ?

Damaged because of the way they handled it, but then shouldn't it have been packed more securely?
